The group was formed by Kathleen (Richman) Hiserodt in 1994 to give home educated students with an interest in acting and theatre a chance to polish their skills and showcase their talents. The current producer/director, Jean Forbes, joined Kathleen in that first show as producer. Realizing they made a good team, the two formed a partnership and The YPT Company in 1995. YPT produces two major shows per year, both musical and non-musical productions.
