Montgomery Playhouse Seeking Directors for 2008-2009 Season

By Laura & Mike Clark • Oct 27th, 2008 • Category: News

News for The Montgomery Playhouse:

The Montgomery Playhouse is in the process of planning our 2009-2010 season, and we would like you to know of our updated procedure for choosing plays and directors. First, as in past years, our Playreading Committee will present a selection of scripts they favor for production to our Board of Directors. A list of the final choices will then be sent to prospective directors who may choose a play they would like to direct and submit a proposal for that play.

However, this year we are also inviting you as a director to initially send us a proposal if there is a play you would especially like to direct. You should include a script (if possible), your resume and a one-page proposal which outlines your vision for the play and its production and any special circumstances. Of course, we also invite you to submit just play titles if you choose. These would go to the Playreading Committee for consideration and, if chosen, would be open to any director. And, a final Note: You will be notified in the event we receive full proposals for the same play from more than one director.

We are sorry that we cannot yet list our exact production schedule, but we anticipate that we will, once again, have three productions at The Asbury Arts Center and three productions at The Gaithersburg Arts Barn. We will consider musicals and invite proposals for them, although it is not yet certain that a musical will be included in our season.

The deadline for submissions is October 31.

If you have any questions at all, please contact me at artisticdirector@montgomeryplayhouse.org or 301-987-2428.

Proposals should be sent to:
Jane Squier Bruns
203 Watkins Pond Blvd.
Rockville, MD 20850

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Jane Squier Bruns, Artistic Director
The Montgomery Playhouse
