Montgomery Playhouse Looking for Actors

By Laura & Mike Clark • Jan 11th, 2008 • Category: News

The directors of Six Degrees of Separation by John Guare are still looking for a few actors. Several roles are available for young men in their late teens (18+) - 30, and one role for a man 30 - mid 50s. There is one role available for a woman (30s - 50s). These are not large roles that require a lot of memorization - just a lot of fun!

Performances are February 29th - March 16th in Gaithersburg, at the Asbury Village near Lakeforest Mall.

Synopsis of play: The title of the play refers to a statistical theory which states that any two people in the world can be connected through only six other people. The play is an examination of the threads of chance that link one person to another. Inspired by a true story, it follows the trail of a young black con man who insinuates himself into the lives of a wealthy New York couple by claiming he knows their son at college. By telling them he is the son of actor Sidney Poitier and that he has just lost all his money in a mugging, he is invited to stay overnight in their home. The fast-paced plot is cunningly executed, alternating comic situations with mildly disturbing ones. It is a play about everything with something in it for everyone.
