Tapestry Theatre Company Shutting Down After the 2008 Season

They will produce Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters First 100 Years again in February (our review of the February 2007 production is available), and Richard III in May. In their note to the theater community, they state: “We have found it increasingly difficult to recruit technical help over the past few years. I know that all of you can relate to this problem. With only a few people doing all of the work all of the time, we find that we want our lives back!” After Richard III closes, Tapestry will hold a garage sale of flats, stage boxes, props, costumes, and other items. Proceeds will be donated to the NVTA Scholarship fund for 2009.

Tapestry is an impressive company. I had only come to know of them a couple of years ago, I am ashamed to say, being that they’ve been around for twelve years. Got to see some really good shows. They are doing “Having our Say” again with the same two ladies (Clayton and Carney). I encourage anyone who hasn’t seen this show to GO!! Look forward to seeing Richard III. It hurts to hear they must shut down, but we move on when we must, and I wish all many blessings.
News about any community theatre closing saddens me, as an actor & director. I saw quite a good production of “Crimes of the Heart” at TTC recently. Thank you, Tapestry, for all your years of hard work.
