Playbill for November 29, 2007

By Laura & Mike Clark • Nov 29th, 2007 • Category: ShowBizRadio

Listen to Mike and Laura discuss their show last weekend [MP3 2:18 1.1MB].

Laura: This is the ShowBizRadio.net podcast for November 29th, 2007.

Mike: We briefly wanted to thank the people who came out to see us in Captain John Smith: The HiStory of McLean and Great Falls.

Laura: It was a lot of fun, a good experience. A bit of a stressful October, but we had a good time and made some new friends which hopefully we will see out there in the theatre world soon.

Mike: We got to work with some actors that we have reviewed in the past and other people we have worked with backstage. We also met a lot of people we haven’t seen before, but have been active in the area. I would simply like to encourage you to go ahead and audition for a show. There were several people in John Smith who have never done acting before. This was their first time and they did a fine job. They learned a lot. Some things were basic, like the difference between upstage and downstage. Other things were more involved, such as “how do I do my voice differently? How do I talk like I’m from Vermont?” I wouldn’t know how to do things like that. Some of the newcomers did a really good job.

Laura: This weekend we are jumping right back into the review scene. This evening we are seeing the British Player’s and their production of Snow White out in Kensington, Maryland. Friday evening is A Christmas Story out in Fauquier. Saturday is Little Women at Laurel Mill Playhouse in Laurel, Maryland. Wrapping things up on Sunday with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by the Sterling Playmakers in Sterling, Virginia.

Mike: We also have a long list of things we are going to work on in December to maintain the website since we don’t have as many reviews this month. We will be taking a small break from running around town. If there is anything you would like to tell us about the site, feel free to do that. You can email us at contact@ShowBizRadio.net. We won’t take any of your comments personally. We are always open for suggestions and other people to do reviews. We are always willing to do whatever it takes to encourage local live theater.

Laura: And now, on with the show.

Laura & Mike Clark started ShowBizRadio in August 2005 because they love live theater. They each earned a Career Studies Certificate in Theater from Northern Virginia Community College. Mike is stage managing Prince William Little Theatre's February 2009 production of Pippin and looking for his next gig. If you need a stage manager, talk with Mike.
