TOYL Tuesday Rehearsal

Again I was pretty nervous starting out, but I settled down for the second run through. Part of it is the fear of forgetting my lines, which becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. Chip gave me some really good directions and questions to answer. Things like “Why are you sitting down?” or “How would you feel if you just lost $1,500?” These are questions I should have answered earlier during my own character building. I also discovered how difficult it is to start a scene in the middle. It’s tricky to get that rhythm flowing again once you’ve had to stop.
I definitely am feeling better about the show after each rehearsal. It is amazing seeing it come together. When we were doing small bits of scenes, out of order, it didn’t make a lot of sense. But now seeing 30-45 minutes swatches, it makes a lot of sense. There’s a fair amount of humor, and serious drama in The Time of Your Life. Tonight we run the last third of the play, Acts IV and V. Those are my longest scenes, and are the ones I feel most comfortable with.

You have solved half your problem with knowing your lines. You have recognized that if you worry about it you will go up.
Just relax and stay focused. Being relaxed is 90% of being able to remember and deliver your lines. You know the lines better then you think you do. Dont be running them endlessly. Run them, know them and then rehearse.
